Roadmap to Peace?

The following is quoted from an E-mail I received.

I suspect that all of you have already heard about the two teenage suicide bombers yesterday who, tragically, killed two Israelis. These were the first two bombings in over a month and yet they are being described as "rocking Israel," and "threatening the peace process."

The reports on these bombings don't tend to mention the actions that have been threatening the peace process since the last suicide bombing July 7th.

They don't mention that 15 Palestinians were killed by Israeli soldiers and 50 injured during that time. See Palestine Red Crescent Society report.

They don't mention the continued construction of a wall sealing in Palestinians for whom it's growing ever more impossible to leave the occupied territories, the confiscation of Palestinian land, the destruction of Palestinian farmland -- the destruction of the means of survival of an entire people. (For more on the wall check out electronicintifada.net/v2/rticle1775.shtml)

They don't mention the latest blatently racist law passed by the Israeli Knesset preventing Israelis from bringing their Palestinian spouses to live with them in "Israel."

They don't mention that as of June 30th, there were 361 Palestinian children in Israeli prisons and that 2000 children had been arrested in less than three years. See Defence for Children International

They don't mention that due to the Israeli brutality, confiscation, destruction, and closure of Palestine since 9/29/2000, at the end of 2002, 60% of the Palestinian population was living below the poverty line and unemployment stood at 37%, while the Palestinian economy had been functioning well a few years before. See the The World Bank Report. (Slow download)

They don't mention that Israel is building new settlements in the occupied territories despite the Road Map, which calls for an end of settlements, and Sharon's original much-publicized promises to dismantle settlements.

This list could go on and on, but here is a start...

Just a few things to think about when you hear about these suicide bombings and please forward this or mention this information to others.

Thank you.
